BOOK AUTHOR
Nine textbooks, describing personal contributions to advanced research in petroleum technology, namely,
Mr. Chin's book "Borehole Flow Modeling" was first to develop experimentally confirmed numerical models for cuttings transport and spotting fluid analysis in deviated and horizontal wells. "Formation Invasion" examines reservoir flow near the borehole, and develops algorithms for single and multiphase flow for practical applications in "time lapse" resistivity logging, formation damage, mudcake growth and hydraulic fracturing.

Two other books, "Wave Propagation in Petroleum Engineering" and "Modern Reservoir Flow and Well Transient Analysis," adapt aerospace engineering technologies to diverse petroleum applications.
"Computational Rheology" and "Quantitative Methods" extend earlier methods to more complicated petroleum engineering problems and offer powerful, robust and fast algorithms for everyday use.
"Formation Testing" develops new and powerful algorithms for pressure transient interpretation. Funded by the Department of Energy, the models improve the commercially successful ones previously developed for Halliburton.
Significant extensions to earlier drilling and cementing rheology models will appear in "Managed Pressure Drilling" to be published by Elsevier in 2012 ... in the meantime, the underlying final Department of Energy project report and book draft are available.
Finally, "MWD Signal Analysis, Optimzation and Design" offers the only available industry exposition on mud pulse tool design and high data rate telemetry. It expands upon the work reported in a recent AADE paper on CNPC's research program. Chapters 1-7 are available for purchase, however, Chapters 8-10 on detailed wind tunnel and mud flow loop testing, are proprietary for clients only.
